This first DVD home video release of Carl Theodor Dreyer’s drama is a two-disc set that features two transfers of the film (German and English intertitled versions), two musical scores by Pierre Oser (1993) and Neal Kurz (2004), a full-length audio commentary by Dreyer scholar Casper Tybjerg, a 26-minute illustrated Dreyer audio interview from 1965, and a 20-page booklet which includes a reprint of Tom Milne’s “The World Inside” (1971), a reprint of Jean Renoir’s “Dreyer’s Sin Tribute” (1968), a translation of the original Danish programme from 1924, and a new essay by Nick Wrigley.

While we have not viewed this edition, we heartily endorse this third silent film entry from Eureka and look forward to future releases.
