Famous Players Film Company was formed to produce prestige film productions featuring well-known stage performers. Distribution was handled by Paramount Pictures Corporation (circa 1914-1916).

Fire destroyed the Famous Players studio on 11 September 1915. The company was then merged with Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company, Incorporated, into Famous Players-Lasky Film Company in [?] September or October? 1915.
