We have viewed all but The Skin Game from this box set and the video transfers are slightly more contrasty, with a few more visible compression artifacts, than we would prefer. For our reviews of the individual titles in this boxset, see our The Ring on home video, and The Manxman on home video pages. Not recommended by us, the films in this collection have since appeared in better-looking home video editions. This collection, and its companion collection of DVDs, were gathered for sale as a single box set of 14 DVDs entitled Alfred Hitchcock: The Early Years (DEL89062DVD) for the 2000 Christmas season. The entire collection, all 1379 minutes of it, sells for the fire sale price of $99.99.
