Flicker Alley has followed their successful freshman effort, The Garden of Eden (1928), with this American DVD edition of the 12-part French crime serial. The edition is touted as presenting the most-complete version of the serial available. Our first look at the disc reveals a set of very-good to excellent 35mm source prints, with light speckling, dust, and other very minor blips.
The serial is accompanied by an excellent new orchestral music score arranged and conducted by Robert Israel.
Also included is an 18-minute featurette comprised of scenes from the serial and a voiceover by Israel on his scoring of the film, and a booklet introductory essay by Jan-Christopher Horak.
