Bolshevism
on Trial

[Shattered Dreams]
(1919)

This propaganda drama, adapted from a novel by Thomas Dixon and rereleased as Shattered Dreams, was directed by Harley Knoles. Produced by the Mayflower Photoplay Corporation less than two years after the Socialist revolution in Russia, the film attacks the rise of Socialist organization in America.

The film contains great footage of the grounds of the mammoth Royal Poinciana Hotel near Palm Beach, Florida.

This DVD-R edition has been mastered from a very-good 16mm reduction print of the Shattered Dreams rerelease version of Bolshevism on Trial (1919), which credits some changed actor names and character names. The print is dark at times, which makes reading some intertitles a challenge.

The film is accompanied by a music score of compiled preexisting music from older motion picture soundtracks.

This Region 0 NTSC DVD-R edition is available directly from GRAPEVINE VIDEO.
