The Street of
Forgotten Women

(1927)

This exploitation quickie, produced by L.M. Monsfort and thought to be directed by Donald Crisp (unlikely) or Norton S. Parker (more likely), purports to expose the human trafficking scheme.

Ratings (1-10): video: 3 / audio: 4 / additional content: 4 / overall: 4.

This DVD-R edition has been mastered from an 8mm reduction print, copied from materials that show occasional signs of nitrate decomposition. As would be expected, picture details are quite blurry from the small-gauge print with highlight details nearly nonexistant. Shadow details are lost in a closed-up blob of black.

The film is accompanied by a soundtrack crudely compiled from preexisting orchestral recordings.

Reluctantly, this is our recommended home video edition of the film.
